Year: 2015
Genre: Grindcore, Blackened Hardcore

Track List:

A new short EP with an unreadable name from Siberian Hell Sounds, a 3-piece blackened hardcore band from Brisbane which appears on my blog for at least 3rd time. Need I say more? Here's some live footage from them:

A new split EP, featuring two bands that already were featured on my blog a few times. Link found here, and I think I'd just take the description from there too: "Hellcrawler's music is based on swedish death metal mixed with a lot of crust/hardcore elements. Wölfe are more chaotic compared to the Slovenians, with more thrashy riffing, with raw and rough production and screaming vokills!"
That'll be enough for today, but lot of more new stuff is on the way - including a big anti-NSBM compilation made by our comrades-in-arms, TDSAU.

While the sound on this release is more grindcore than anything else, there's a certain BM influence as well (especially on the last track). Not bad at all!

The Hunt - "Funerals" (2014)

THE HUNT "Funerals"

Year: 2014
Genre: Blackened Crust/Hardcore
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. The Rats will inherit the Earth
  2. Yama
  3. The Curse of Mankind

If you wonder what I'm doing now for this blog: unfortunately not much. I've re-uploaded some albums, but the diskspace on mediafire is much more limited than before, which makes me more cautious with re-uploading. I still haven't found any better alternative yet.

In the meanwhile, here's the last EP from The Hunt, a blackened hardcore band from Australia, which appeared on my blog before with their s/t release. This one is a "posthumous" release, as the band unfortunately broke up in 2012.

Siberian Hell Sounds & NØNE - split (2014)

SIBERIAN HELL SOUNDS / NØNE

Year: 2014
Genre: Grindcore, Metallic Hardcore
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. SHS///By the voice of his Master
  2. NØNE///Reap///Finding a Way
  3. SHS///A Cult will rise.
bandcamp

You're already familiar with Siberian Hell Sounds, and here's their new release after a 6 months-long hiatus - a split 10'' with their fellow Brisbanites NØNE. The band themselves recommend it to the fans of Pig Destroyer, Amenra or Converge (or basically any bands that sound similar to the aforementioned). Unfortunately, they can't put it up for free for the following reasons (although you still can listen to it @ bandcamp):

"It would be great if we were able to give these songs away for free and not have to subsist on a diet of Mi Goreng and crack for the next year but unfortunately we were reamed pretty fucking hard on the cost of putting this together and can't afford to put together a vinyl order without a bit of support from you.

We put a lot of effort into our products and sell them as close to cost price as possible and will never release or sell anything that we wouldn't personally be stoked on. If you're reading this it means you're already properly engaged with the DIY music scene and I don't have to expound upon grindcore's ability to empty your bank account in the funnest way possible..."

Siberian Hell Sounds - s/t (2013)

SIBERIAN HELL SOUNDS "Siberian Hell Sounds"

Year: 2013
Genre: Grindcore
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. Bastard Machine
  2. A Cold Presence
  3. Infernal Hurricane
  4. The Tallest Horn
  5. Tension
  6. Reign Of The Bastard
  7. Streets Of Piss
  8. Burning Breath / Exhale Death
DOWNLOAD

"The legend holds that a team of Russian scientists purportedly led by an individual named "Mr. Azzacov" in an unnamed place in Siberia had drilled a hole that was nine miles (14.5 km) deep before breaking through to a cavity. Intrigued by this unexpected discovery, they lowered an extremely heat tolerant microphone, along with other sensory equipment, into the well. The temperature deep within was 2,000 °F (1,100 °C) — heat from a chamber of fire from which (purportedly) the tormented screams of the damned could be heard..."

Of course this relatively well-know story is complete BS, since such a deep borehole never existed anywhere in Siberia, and the "recording" turned out to be a soundtrack to some old horror movie. There was, however, a very deep borehole near Murmansk (not in Siberia), whose chief engineer once mentioned an observation of a very strange noise and something resembling an explosion (which was recorded not with a microphone, but with a geophone, though). This project also gave a lot of very unexpected scientific data, but nothing too "mystical" (except for that incident with an unidentified noise, which probably became the source for that "well to hell" hoax).

Siberian Hell Sounds are a 3-piece band from Brisbane, Australia (some other sources say they're from California, though), named after the aforementioned legend. Their primary influences are Pig Destroyer, Left for Dead and Slayer, and at least one of their members is a massive fan of my blog:

"Here's a link to our bandcamp with both our releases (the PCPEP from Jan, 2014 and the Siberian Hell Sounds EP from Sep, 2013):

Hope it inspires a church burning or two..."

  11. Zombie Bite
  12. The Complicated Futility Of Ignorance
  13. Gutter
bandcamp

Since Hayduke X. have posted a few releases that aren't exactly "blackened", but rather regular hardcore punk or crust/d-beat, I'm going to post something in this vein too. Swine are a hardcore band from Sydney who released their debut self-titled album a few months ago. Even though their music isn't metal at all, I found this album to be very good and decided to share it with you.

"...We're not signed to any label and funded the album ourselves, and we're really proud of it. We are strong believers in the “pay what you want” model, we just appreciate people being able to hear it"

Fifteen Dead & Wolfe - Humanity Is Ending (2012)

FIFTEEN DEAD / WOLFE "Humanity is Ending"

Year: 2012
Genre: Blackened Crust, Blackened Grind
Country: UK / Australia

Track List:

Wölfe
  1. XIV
  2. VII
Fifteen Dead
  1. Antitheist
bandcamp / bandcamp
Both Fifteen Dead and Wölfe already were featured on my blog before, so I think they need no introduction. It's strange, though, that I didn't knew about this spit until last week, even though it was released in 2012. P.S. It's also funny that the album poster is an 11Mb file, while all the mp3's altogether are only 8.5Mb.

Foreign AIDS - demo (2013)

FOREIGN AIDS "demo"

Year: 2013
Genre: Blackened Crust/Hardcore
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. Laos
  2. Colin Barnett
  3. Nuclear Winter
  4. Fast Food
  5. Cantionis Altera
  6. Corporate Cures
  7. Antichrist
bandcamp

"To sum up the band we like to play hard fast and offensive and hate authority weather it be imposed by the state, religious, academic, or scientific institutions or on the basis of sexuality, gender, ethnicity, class or any grounds other than respect. The demo was recorded in a jam room raw with no overdubs or mastering and was quite rushed so it is presented warts and all. We are rarely blessed enough to play live so it would be great to see what people who read your site make of our music. We plan to go in to record more formally in early October with the same engineer who produced the Disease Process album, which is also reviewed on your blog. Members from Disease Process and ForeignAIDS also play in another band who will be recording soon..."

  12. CrazyboiJihad
  13. Demons Are My Friends
  14. Rain
  15. Temple of Despair (Sick Circuit Step Remix)
  16. Everything is Meaningless
bandcamp / facebook

"...It's sort of industial black metal/atmospheric black metal at times, and just generally experimental. I make this music by myself with a few songs based on compositions by my wife Erin. The idea of the music was create something dark and hypnotic at times, focusing on dreams that look into the demons that are within ourselves, and the many emotions of sorrow and loss. At times the music is satrical about the torment this world goes through. I would definitely say I am all for anarchy..."

As for me, it's a very strange release, sort of ambient/noise/darkwave with some elements of industrial metal and BM-type shrieking vocals. Probably only for the fans of old school industrial and noise; if you're unsure whether to download it or not, check out this track:

Of Prey - "Worlds Fade Away" (2012)

OF PREY "Worlds Fade Away"

Year: 2012
Genre: Dark Hardcore / Neocrust
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. When Addiction Becomes Our Survival
  2. This Is Not A Call To Arms (Its Just A Fashion Statement)
  3. Arson
  4. The Aussie Swasi
  5. Creating Dangerous Bonds
  6. To Exist
  7. Don't Let Me Veil My Privilege In My Shame
  8. Terra Not Terror
  9. Worlds Fade Away
bandcamp

Debut release from a Melbourne-based anarcho-crust band whose members listen and love black metal. It's soon to be available in physical form (in a hand screened, hand glued jacket with lyric sheet and maybe random other goodies; limited to 200 copies). For those who are interested:  weareallofprey (AT) gmail (DOT) com. Personally I feel they have a potential to become another Ecocide, but right now I must admit that their music generally lacks coherence and is somewhat hard to follow. The vocal work might be better too, but I understand it's only a first release, and it isn't bad for a beginning.

"Worlds Fade Away is our first release. It is what we have come up with over the last year. Some songs take aim at particular "issues" that come up when you grow up in this culture of occupation, others are comments on solidarity, resistance and existence. Please get in touch if you feel the need"

Cicadan - "Mother" (2012)

CICADAN "Mother"

Year: 2012
Genre: Atmospheric Black/Doom Metal
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. Day
  2. Dusk
  3. Night (Dendronic Pessimism)
"Cicadan is the solo project of Shamus Toomath. The music protests for radical environmentalism and defence of indigenous rights in order to forge a deeper understanding of the hostile, yet beautiful Australian environment. In spirit, Cicadan is eco-anarchistic, with atavistic motives stemming from the rich indigenous knowledge of the area. However, Cicadan is not a nature-worship band. No gods, no masters"

As of now, this LP is available only on bandcamp, but a physical release will be available through Eternal Warfare Records in October. "Mother" has been reviewed several times, so I suggest you to read this review by Heathen Harvest before downloading (I don't think I'd be able to write a better review). As for me, my only problem with this release is that there's too little actual metal and too much ambient/acoustic parts. Anyway, it's a very promising debut, and I'm pleased to know that the founder of Cicadan reads my blog. Recommended to everyone who loves Cascadian stuff.

  7. A Cabin in the Woods

The Hunt - s/t (2011, alternate version)

THE HUNT "The Hunt"

Year: 2011
Genre: Dark Hardcore / Neocrust
Country: Australia

Track List:

  1. Emptiness
  2. Golden Calf
  3. Shrine
  4. Mourning
  5. Enslaved
  6. Australia Failed You
  7. Buried
  8. Unmarked Grave

SIDE 1 / SIDE 2

The Hunt are a band from Perth playing excellent metallic crust/d-beat. This is an "alternate"/earlier mix of their debut LP, made available for free download by their former guitarist (the final version would be re-mastered, with many of his guitar parts removed). They're said to be influenced by such bands as Tragedy, Fall Of Efrafa and Buried Inside (very good list of influences, I'd say).

Wölfe - "I" (2011)

WOLFE "I"

Year: 2011
Genre: Grinding Blackened Thrash
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. II-III-IV-V-VI
DOWNLOAD

Very interesting collection of early recordings by Wölfe, a duo from Melbourne, Terra Australis. They describe this release as "a fifteen minute descent into a viscous whirlwind of hatred and despise for modern humanity and its subsequent christo-capitalist mind rape". The music is quite interesting, I'd call it "progressive blackened grind/crust with spoken word interludes". Definitely worth checking out!

Shapeless - "To Walk Among Beasts" (2011)

SHAPELESS "To Walk Among Beasts"

Year: 2011
Genre: Experimental Black Metal
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. To Walk Among Beasts
DOWNLOAD

Newest single by Shapeless, quite short (only 8 minutes), but according to the guy behind the project, "I felt I accomplished what I needed to with the one track. In saying that, I'm not entirely happy with how it turned out, but it is what it is... Once again, musically it's pretty pathetic, but it's honest, and to me that's what black metal is all about. Hopefully others feel the same"

I'm posting this right after I've posted the EP by Woccon, and it isn't a coincidence - in my opinion, both projects share the same (black & green) ideology and mentality. Maybe Shapeless can be called "primordial black metal" ;)

Shapeless - "Non-Aretaic Dimensions" (2011)

SHAPELESS "Non-Aretaic Dimensions (of misery and freedom)"

Year: 2011
Genre: Raw Black Metal / Dark Ambient
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. Boner of the Fallen Satyr
  2. Putres Motuos et Leviathan
  3. An Introverted Journey Through Worthlessness
  4. Non-Aretaic Dimensions
DOWNLOAD

Another demo made by one of my readers. According to him:

"I just finished my solo demo. It's pretty shit, but it combines some elements of DSBM, inspired by the horrid society we live in. There's also a track inspired by Against His-Story, Against Leviathan! and although the lyrics might be a bit vague on exactly what I'm trying to get across, the gist of it is Anarchism and the rejection of modern society...
I'm currently working on another EP. I'd be happy to send it along when it's done. Unlike Non-Aretaic Dimensions, I'll be putting more time into it - though hopefully it will still retain the raw quality"

Well... the 2nd track is good enough for a first home-made demo. Reminds me of L'Acephale and Mania (and maybe also Burzum's "Det Som En Gang Var"). Tracks #1 and #3 are just electronic interludies, nothing really remarkable. The 4th track is also not that bad, but the sound is much more raw and noisy. Overall, the music is as minimalistic as the cover image, but I'm not saying like it's a bad thing. Let's wait for a 2nd demo...

Mammon - "Demiurge" (2011)

MAMMON "Demiurge"

Year: 2011
Genre: Sludge/Post Metal
Country: Australia

DOWNLOAD

One more Australian band which was willing to send the demo to me for a review. It contains three tracks numbered in roman numerals (I, II, III). Actually, I won't even try to write a review, since I don't think I can write anything better than this one. And yes, the music speaks for itself... Although you should note that it isn't black metal, but rather sludge/post-metal in the vein of Neurosis or Isis.

Disease Process - demo cassette (2011)

DISEASE PROCESS "Disease Process"

Year: 2011
Genre: Blackened Grindcore / Crust
Country: Australia

Track List:
  1. Thrown To The Wolves
  2. Shallow Graves
  3. Black Lung
  4. Bhopal
  5. Martyr Blood
  6. Putrid Fang
  7. Fall Of Rome
  8. Summon The Witch
DOWNLOAD

It's always good to hear some music produced by fans of my blog... this time it's old school grindcore/crust (80s UK school) with strong black metal overtones. The band is based out of Perth, Western Australia, and this cassette is their debut release. As far as I understand, their lyrics carry eco-anarchist (and possibly anti-civilization) message. From a review by Rest In Punk Records:

"Anarcho-Grindcore outfit DISEASE PROCESS draw inspiration from the late 80s UKHC / Grindcore. Old school raw Black Metal & Crust, to create their own brand of nihilistic audio warfare. Savage Buzz-saw riffing & cold Nordic melodies tangle with relentless Blast & Dbeats only accentuate the Anarcho-political ideals & misanthropic social views spewed forth with such seething hatred & contempt..."

Insurge (commonly typeset iNsuRge) were a political industrial rock band from Sydney, Australia, formed in 1993. I remember their video "I Hate Stupid People" being aired on MTV Russia ~10 years ago, and I always thought they were a relatively popular band. But now, after doing a little search in Google, I was shocked how little known they are (at least outside Australia). Their second album (called "Globalization") isn't available anywhere, but after a long search I found their debut album. The archive also contains their 1999 single "I Hate Stupid People" and booklet scans - for those who are interested in their political message. By the way, their politics were influenced with anarchism, environmentalism, Noam Chomsky's writings, and anti-globalization movement. Here's an interview with Chris Dubrow.
