Also, you can take a look into their past releases we have supported here. And stream and download this one in bandcamp.

Frostland Tales - "Nostalgie, melancholie, smrt" (2015)

FROSTLAND TALES "Nostalgie, melancholie, smrt"

Year: 2015
Genre: Lo-Fi DSBM
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Nostalgie (Nostalgy)
  2. Melancholie (Melancholy)
  3. Smrt (Death)
DOWNLOAD

Here's the final release from Frostland Tales. According to the person who sent me this, the suicide story of FT's only member wasn't a bad joke - he actually did this. Don't know really what else to say... probably should just note it contains 3 tracks of pretty much the same lo-fi "melancholic monotonous black metal" which can be found on his earlier releases which all were featured on here before. R.I.P.

bandcamp

One of my readers recently made a good observation that the Czech underground scene is quicky becoming  a new major RABM powerhouse. Taking in account how many good Czech bands I've posted on here, especially in the last couple of years, it's hard not to agree with him. This compilation, featuring 7 Czech anarcho-friendly BM bands, is yet another good proof to this.

Its name, "Jdi a dívej se", is a reference to a well-known ant-fascist movie "Come and See" by Elem Klimov. It's going to be released as double vinyl LP on 1st of July, and will be distributed by Day After Records. More info (in English and Czech) can be found on its bandcamp page.

Kronstadt - demo (2015)

KRONSTADT "Demo"

Year: 2015
Genre: Blackened Crust/Hardcore
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Oči partyzánů
  2. Bratrstvo sibenic
  3. Pohrebni hranice pro umirajici svet
DOWNLOAD

A band with such a name just can't be bad, right? Jokes aside, this demo indeed isn't bad. The band is from Czech republic (Uherský Brod), and at least one of their members is a fan of my blog. According to him:

"Some of our members are participants of Czech Anarchist movement, the rest are at least sympathetic. Our band agenda is 100% supportive towards antifascism, squatting, diy and such topics. And we of course want to spread our music towards equally or similarly thinking people"

The cover image is a photo of a memorial for victims of nazi occupation in Ostrava. The English translations of all their lyrics are available here.

Frostland Tales - "Obrazy" (2015)

FROSTLAND TALES "Obrazy"

Year: 2015
Genre: DSBM, Dark Ambient
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Les za svitu plamene (Rozjímání)
  2. Hvězdná obloha (Procitnutí)
DOWNLOAD

Just as announced, this is the last release from Frostland Tales, consisting of only two short tracks. The track names mean "A forest in the light of flame (Meditation)" and "Starry sky (The awakening)" respectively. The cover image doesn't have any special meaning, it's just a photo made when he was in northern Italy. As for the music, it's very minimalistic. The author himself calls it "dark guitar-ambient", but feel free to call it however you want.

And the most disturbing part about this release - the author says that he's going to commit suicide by the end of this month, and the note is already written. It's the first time during the whole existence of my blog when a someone tells me about his suicide plans, so I really don't know how to react. I have no idea if he really intends to do it (or maybe already did), but if it's true... okay, it's his choice. Who am I to judge him and his decisions, anyway?..

FATAL - "O Zvěrstvech" (2015)

FATAL "O Zvěrstvech"

Year: 2015
Genre: Crustgrind
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Intro
  2. Konec
  3. Konvoj
  4. Deceiver (Napalm Death cover)
DOWNLOAD

A short and raw crust/grind from Pete, a member of one of the Czech bands which previously was featured on this blog, released on 30th of March. The title means "About the Atrocities", and all the lyrics with English translations are available in the archive. Specifically, "Konec" ("The End") is a song about how the humanity consumes itself, and "Konvoj" is about the NATO military convoy that recently passed through the Czech Republic, and generally about the big countries' lust for war. "Deceiver" is a cover of Napalm Death song (original "Scum" version without that Repulsion intro).

P.S. More news from the Czech Republic, this time it's bad. The project Frostland Tales: "I'm dead, bye". Some people wanted to see FT live, but its founder doesn't think if it'd ever be possible to get the rest of the members to play a live gig...

Frostland Tales - "Konec" (2015)

FROSTLAND TALES "Konec"

Year: 2015
Genre: "Melancholic Monotonous Black Metal" (self-described)
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Bezmocný, bezcenný, bez života (Hopeless, Priceless, Lifeless)
  2. Cesty života (Paths of Life)
  3. Sny o jiné existenci (Dreams of Another Existence)
  4. Snění (Dreaming - Trist cover)
DOWNLOAD

Finally, a first full-length release from Frostland Tales, which title ironically means "The End". It features two re-recorded tracks from the first demo (the first, which is a new version of "Don't Want to Live Anymore", and the second), one new track, and a cover version of a song from the Trist/Korium split. Total playing time is 39:40 (394 is the serial number of a guitar used in recording this album).

There are some vocals, which were recorded in a forest, for a "natural reverb". To be honest, vocals are the least appealing part of this album for me, fortunately there's not much of them. The sound and musicianship in general remains quite raw, demo-quality, but for me it's the main part of this project's appeal. The CD will be available soon as well, with the release note promised to include a mention of my blog.

Frostland Tales - "Paths Of Life" (2014)

FROSTLAND TALES "Paths Of Life"

Year: 2014
Genre: DSBM, Death/Doom Metal
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Paths Of Life Pt.I
  2. Paths Of Life Pt.II
  3. Paths Of Life Pt.III
  4. (666.) Don't Want To Live Anymore
DOWNLOAD

For those who became interested in Frostland Tales after I posted that split w/ Forgotten Dawn - here's the first demo EP of this project, recorded in 2013 and released in 2014. It consists of 3 untitled tracks, and a bonus one which originally was intended for a second EP (which was going to be named "Soul Cuts", but most of the material for it was lost due to a PC crash).

The author thinks it's rather DSBM than blackened doom or something like that, but for me it sounds a lot like 90's death/doom metal. The main sources of inspiration were the Czech band Trist (R.I.P.), and the  Swedish one Hypothermia. The low quality of recording and the absence of vocals were intended to make the release more atmospheric. The sole member of Frostland Tales is also active in several other bands, some of which may be more RABM-themed than this one (anarcho-grindcore, oldschool raw BM, etc.)

Forgotten Dawn & Frostland Tales - "Requiem for mankind" (2014)

FORGOTTEN DAWN / FROSTLAND TALES "Requiem For Mankind"

Year: 2014
Genre: Blackened Doom Metal
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:

Forgotten Dawn
  1. No man´s land
  2. Babylon must fall
Frostland Tales
  1. Do lesů a do hor
  2. Ztracená víra
DOWNLOAD

Two Czech one-man projects, both playing a kind of black/doom metal. Forgotten Dawn definitely has anarchist leanings (see the release notes for "Passive Resistance"), while Frostland Tales seems to be mostly apolitical. The guy behind Frostland Tales is only 17 y.o., and he's a member of several other bands and projects. According to Petr of Forgotten Dawn:

"His songs are more DSBM than mine, but still very doomy. There´s just few words in each song, so they sounds almost like instrumental music.

To Forgotten dawn: I tried to make my new tracks more "funeral" and less "atmospheric" than my previous work and I changed my vocal style a bit. It´s quite different than "Passive resistance" but I believe there is still significant handwriting"

Uncle Grasha's Flying Circus - "Cruiser Potemkin is Everywhere" (2014)

UNCLE GRASHA'S FLYING CIRCUS " Cruiser Potemkin is Everywhere"

Year: 2014
Genre: Noise
Country: Czech Republic

"Uncle Grasha's Flying Circus is dada-surrealistic project. It was found on Spitzbergen, avantgarde poet Willhelm Grasslich was beaten to unconsciousness by 51 nuns there. It produces style called nun-core, basically it means surrealistic noise ambient. Cruiser Potemkin is Everywhere is the first album, which was composed mainly on computer programme. Album was created during spring of 2014"

...Actually, it's just Czech ambient/noise, made by a member of an underground DIY community called  Pravěk - which, by all appearance, is very RABM-friendly. Their Greek counterparts maight be ZAM and their project Pornostroika Dadaifi - but UG'FC is a bit more noisy.

Marnost & Leechfeast - split (2014)

MARNOST / LEECHFEAST

Year: 2014
Genre: Black Metal / Sludge
Country: Czech Republic / Slovenia

Track List:

  1. MARNOST - Lidé si kupují pečené kaštany
  2. LEECHFEAST - Miasmata
bandcamp / bandcamp

As I've promised, I'm posting the 2nd recent release from Marnost. Although I liked their split with Oaken more than this one, it deserves to be on here too. The only song on Marnost side sounds quite experimental, and has a pretty strange name as well (in fact, it's based on a 1927 poem by a Czech anarcho-communist writer S.K.Neumann).

"Leechfeast from Slovenia is a diy gloomy sludge/doom band featuring members of Paperplanecrash, Landverraad or Melete. On this record they have one superheavy 7min song that sounds like Black Sabbath on heroin. Marnost are a czech anarchist blackmetal/experimental project with members of Gattaca, Remek, Lakmé or Dakhma and here they have an unorthodox and very experimental 7min song. The following labels co-released the split: Burina (sk), Catanarchy (at), Dingleberry (ger), IFB (usa), MxFxL (cz), Neadnderthal Stench (bel), Rope or Guillotine (nl). 525 pieces on black vinyl were made"

Marnost & Oaken - split (2014)

MARNOST / OAKEN

Year: 2014
Genre: Black Metal / Dark Hardcore
Country: Czech Republic / Hungary

Track List:

  1. MARNOST - Die Hamletmaschine (v2.0)
  2. OAKEN - I'm the Crucifix
  3. OAKEN - Redeemer
bandcamp / bandcamp

There are two new records involving Marnost, the best Czech RABM project, which just came out on vinyl last month. Here's one of them - a split LP with Oaken, a dark hardcore/post-metal band from Hungary closely linked to Rivers Run Dry, highly influenced by His Hero Is Gone and Amenra. The second one is a split with Slovenian sludge/doom band Leechfeast, which I'll post a bit later.

Avvika - s/t (2014)

AVVIKA "Avvika"

Year: 2014
Genre: Epic Crust / Dark Hardcore
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Fire
  2. Eternal Treblinka
bandcamp

Today's 8th of March, so it's about time to post something with female vocals. I'm receiving a lot of demos, but not many of this kind. This one, recorded by a collective of 5 friends (2M / 3F) from Praha (CZ), Děčín (CZ) and Stockholm (SWE), is going to fit in well. It isn't black metal, but this kind of epic crust is always welcome in my blog too. Reminds me of Exmisja and Fall of Efrafa, regarding both music and ideology.

Smuteční slavnost - "Nářky věčného zatracení" (2013)

SMUTECNI SLAVNOST "Nářky věčného zatracení"

Year: 2013
Genre: Black Metal
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Štěkot obrovské smečky psů a kvílení duševně nemocných
  2. ...a pátý jezdec je Strach
  3. Ansuz
  4. Hození boha do propasti
  5. Národ věčného Podzimu
bandcamp / blog

"Strictly unorthodox black metal from Praha", finally released their first cassette titled "Nářky věčného zatracení". The music is indeed unorthodox, and sounds more like industrial than metal at times (track #4 for example), but overall it's black metal (albeit avant-garde). The cover image is a still from Béla Tarr's experimental movie "The Turin Horse".

All the tapes are soul out by now, but you still can visit their bandcamp page and buy their mp3 for whatever price you want, if you wish to support the Czech antifascist BM compilation they would be part of.

Forgotten Dawn - "Passive Resistance" (2013)

FORGOTTEN DAWN "Passive Resistance"

Year: 2013
Genre: Blackened Doom Metal
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. The Second Sun
  2. The Statement
  3. Children of Apocalypse
DOWNLOAD

A new and really promising one-man project from Czech Republic. The person behind it claims to be a fan of my blog and bands like Panopticon, WITTR, Marnost, Anastatica etc. "Passive Resistance" contains 3 tracks of mostly doom metal with some BM elements; the quality of recording is... well, not great (there's some crackle, and the vocal effects sound somewhat cheap), but overall it's pretty decent for a debut recording of an one-man band. Conceptually it deals with the topics of war, devastation, and post-apocalyptic themes in general. Currently, Forgotten Dawn is only a side project whose sole member is active in several other bands (which aren't explicitly anarchist, though, unlike this one).
