One more band from the Balkans that deserves your attention. Atomski Rat ("Nuclear War") are a 4-piece  band from Serbia (Šid) that was formed with an intention to play punk/thrash, and the end result turned out to be a mix of noisy hardcore, crust/d-beat, and crossover thrash. Looks like the spirit of 80's is still alive in ex-Yugoslavian (especially Serbian) metal scene, punks and metalheads unite!

BM-influenced metallic crust/hardcore from serbia. Unfortunately I don't have much info about the band, but they think this album (first one after 10 years since the last recording) will be a good addition to my blog. Archive contains all the covers and translations of lyrics into English.

Kolaps systému & Raven - split (2012)

KOLAPS SYSTEMU / RAVEN

Year: 2012
Genre: Harsh Noise, Power Electronics
Country: Slovakia / Serbia

Track List:
  1. KOLAPS SYSTEMU - Heroes & Freedom Fighters
  2. RAVEN - Counterculture
DOWNLOAD

And finally in my series of "noisy" posts - a split album featuring two radical noise projects: Kolaps Systému (Slovakia) and Raven (Serbia). If I understood the release notes right, the KS' side was recorded at a forest hut, using very primitive equipment (which is fairly consistent with KS' ideology) - chain, plastic tube, harmonica and so on.

Deadly Mosh - "Blind Leads The Blind" (2010)

DEADLY MOSH "Blind Leads The Blind"

Year: 2010
Genre: Thrash Metal
Country: Serbia

Track List:
  1. 2000 Years Of Decay
  2. Deadly Night
  3. Judgment Day
  4. Hellsound

Some more thrash metal - this time from Kragujevac, Serbia. According to Metal Archives, their main lyrical themes are "Social, Anti-Capitalism, Metal, Pain". They also did a split "Labeled to Confront" with a band from Macedonia called Warnament, which may be not an explicitly political band, but they have a side project called Street (anarchist crossover thrash). Unfortunately, I couldn't find their demo "In Protest" anywhere...

P.S. While I was writing this, I remembered Odmetnik, one of the most prominent users of our (now defunct) forum - an anarchist from Serbia who loves old school black and thrash metal. I guess it was him who recently demanded me to post more distinctly metal stuff, and not to concentrate too much on crust and dark hardcore. Well, the will be more 80s'-style metal in the future - including Sacrilege discography, and not only. Stay tuned!

New Mortal Gods - demo (2010)

NEW MORTAL GODS "demo"

  1. Pointless Crusade
  2. Hang 'Em High
  3. Bloodstained White Coats

This band haven't provided me much info about themselves, but at least I know they're from Belgrade, Serbia, and their lineup is:

  • Mombo- vocals
  • Nikola Mitrovic - guitar
  • Miss Keos - Bass
  • Bora - drums
Maybe it isn't the most "blackened" crust out there, but there definitely are some BM elements in their music.

^ check out their vocalist's outfit ;)

Yes, Dažd have released their first full-length album, and thanks to some anonymous who had posted a link to it in my blog. In comparison with their earlier releases, their sound drifted away from crust and black metal to sludge/doom and stoner rock. It's up to you to decide, good it or not.

buy it @ Hell Militia

P.S. Don't you think I'm posting too much blackened crust and too little BM (and other kinds of metal)? I have many more interesting releases to you, and I'll post them in the next few days. Most of them are blakened crust too, but there are also many black metal and other metal releases. Stay tuned!

It's a rare live recording from a Serbian blackened crust trio Dažd, uploaded by bubble. Some of the tracks from it also appeared on the compilation previously posted by me. Just sick stuff, especially the vocals (though there's much more of sludge/doom influence than of black metal).

Dažd & Nakot - split (2008)

DAZD / NAKOT

Year: 2008
Genre: Blackened Crust
Country: Serbia
Label: Doomed to Extinction

Track List:

Dažd
  1. The Army of Darkness + Down Below (Live)
Nakot<
  1. Dead Lives / Weapons Industry + The End
DOWNLOAD

There are 5 tracks on this split, but in the mp3 rip they're combined into 2 tracks. Personally I like the Nakot's side of the split, they're playing awesome crust punk (though not much influenced by black metal). Sadly I have only a very little knowledge of Balkan punk scene, but it's said that many good bands come from ex-Yugoslavia (especially in the recent years).

"We were sick and tired living in country like this which pass trough few wars, economical crises, nato bombing, international isolation in recent history...and just seeing local punk bands singing about their crew, their neighborhood, or some stupid joke songs...Our lyrics are mostly dark and apocalyptic… But the reason is not because that’s how they should be in crust/punk genre, but because the reality of civilization, we belong by birth to, is exactly like that. Also, the war as a subject in some of our songs is not a punk fetishism, but because the wars have been reality in this region for the last 15 years, and many of us have lived in the realities described in the lyrics of many crust bands" - Nakot

"Anarchy & Magic"

Dažd (cyrillic: Дажд) are a Serbian pagan crust band formed in 2005. They're playing raw blackened crust with sludgecore and doom metal overtones. The band members define their music as "Balkan black (anarcho) occult crust post-punk". Sounds interesting enough?

They had never released an album (LP or even EP), but here's a compilation of their early recordings, downloaded from the Pagans Against Fascism site. Please keep in mind that it's only demo tracks, so the sound is very raw and the musicianship is far from perfect. But the atmosphere is great - dark and gloomy, that's how occult/pagan crust metal should sound.

P.S. Sorry for my long absense, I have a lot of stuff for you! Stay tuned!
