LATE NIGHT VENTURE "Tychonians"

Year: 2015
Genre: Post-Metal
Country: Denmark

Track List:
  1. Stjerneborg
  2. Nebula
  3. Moon shone on white rock
  4. Halo orbit
  5. Revenge Motif
  6. Praha
download promo / bandcamp / soundcloud

For a start, here's a new album from a band that's not expliticly political and is relatively far from black metal, but they're my readers and their producer has worked with such Danish acts as Solbrud and Halshug. Very good post-metal, or psych/doom how the band members themselves call it:

Solbrud - "Jærtegn" (2014)

SOLBRUD "Jærtegn"

Denmark

  1. Sortedøden
  2. Afbed
  3. Klippemennesket

As I said before, I need at least mention the new album of Solbrud on my blog (won't post a direct download link, but you'll easily find it if you need it). I've seen a lot of comments saying it's "nothing special" or "average at best", but I found it to be very good. Solid atmospheric BM album, definitely more WITTR-influenced than the previous one, and coming from a band that has certain anarchist sympathies... what's more to wish for?

møl - s/t (2014)

Year: 2014
Genre: Post-Black Metal, Blackened Hardcore
Country: Denmark

Track List:
  1. Sundrowned
  2. Airy
  3. Makhachkala
DOWNLOAD

Line-up:

Guitar/composition: Nicolai Hansen
Drums/percussion: Ken Klejs
Bass: Frederik Lippert
Vocals: Steffen Rasmussen

møl are a band from Denmark, formed in late 2012 in Aarhus, and closely linked to Solbrud (whose new album I'll review a little later too). While their lyrics aren't particularly political, they're centered around experiences, life and struggles (the song about Makhachkala is based on the conflict/terrorist attacks in that city, if I understood right). The music is post-black metal/shoegaze, even with some "Cascadian" overtones, but there's a significant hardcore/screamo influence as well.

Askvald - "Fernab des Weges" (2014)

ASKVALD "...fernab des Weges"

Year: 2014
Genre: Black Metal
Country: Denmark / Germany

Track List:
  1. Fernab des Weges
  2. TotMastAsche
  3. Neue Heimat
DOWNLOAD

Askvald is a melodic black metal project started by one of my avid readers in mid-2013. He was playing in several bands and projects since 1999, and here's his first own release - a 3-track EP titled "Fernab des Weges". After several "try & fails" he managed to find the kind of sound and arrangements that's alright for him, and I'd say it isn't bad at all for a debut!  The lyrics on "Fernab des Weges" are mostly about being pissed off by modern human behaviour and today's blindfolded society(s). I'll be probably the first to post it, but re-distributing it is highly encouraged. If you want a contact info for the project, just email me.
P.S. I have a few more demos from other projects beside this one - but it's mostly noise, ambient and other experimental stuff, not metal, so I'll review it a little later. Stay tuned.

Halshug - cassette demo (2012)

HALSHUG "CS Demo"

Year: 2012
Genre: Blackened Crust/D-Beat/Sludge
Country: Denmark

bandcamp / facebook / bigcartel / blog

Fresh blood from Copenhagen. Demo consists of 5 numbered tracks and has a quite dark, gloomy atmosphere; the quality of production is reasonably low for a DIY cassette release.

Solbrud - s/t (2012)

SOLBRUD "Solbrud"

Year: 2012
Genre:
Atmospheric Black/Death Metal
Country:
Denmark

Track List:

  1. Bortgang
  2. Øde Lagt
  3. Dødemandsbjerget
  4. Skyggeriget
facebook / myspace / bandcamp

Solbrud are a band from Denmark, rooted in the leftist/anarchist movement of Copenhagen centered in the new youth house (Ungdomshuset) where they rehearse, help arrange shows and so on (though they're not a directly political band in terms of lyrical messages). It's their debut full-length album, that's available for free @ bandcamp, as well as self-released gatefold vinyl limited to 500 copies, and as digipack CD released by Euphonious Records/VME.

You can read a detailed review of it here, but I must add that I can't fully agree with comparing Solbrud to WITTR - while they're definitely influenced by WITTR, I think their music is primarily rooted in the Scandinavian scene. Overall, their music may be somewhat unoriginal, but quite decent for a debut. Looks like Danish metal scene isn't very big when compared to those of Sweden, Norway and Finland, but now we have a band from there that isn't only worth attention, but also shares our beliefs.

Nuclear Death Terror - "Plague Bearer" (demo, 2006)

NUCLEAR DEATH TERROR "Plague Bearer"

Year: 2006
Genre: Crust Metal
Country: Denmark
Label: self-prod.

Track List:
  1. Cities to Dust
  2. Nightmare Reality
  3. System Control
  4. Lost
  5. Police Funeral
  6. Life of Pain
  7. Necropolis
  8. Final Harvest
Although NDT's music doesn't sound much like black metal (it's more or less pure crust), they were one of the first anarcho-crust bands to use black metal aesthetics (corpsepaints, etc.). And their music is just plain good, so I have enough reasons to post it here ;) All their releases are available for free on their blog.
