Ñankupel - "Mapu ul'kun" (2016)

ÑANKUPEL "Mapu ul'kun"

Year: 2016
Genre: Metal-Punk

Track List:
  1. Misionero
  2. Ñankupel
  3. Mapu Ül'kün
  4. Kuifi Nwen
  5. Pelea o Muere
  6. Akuy Weichan
soundcloudfacebook

Ñankupel is a Mapuche band that wants to claim the struggle for the Wallmapu's liberation. (Wallmapu is the name given to the Mapuche territory). Their lyrics are very close to an Anarchist point of view, even though we don't know if they assume themselves in this position, but they talk about the liberation of their territory and they suggest the application of the "direct action" to get back what belongs to their people. We received this and I guess it deserves a space in here.

You can download their music directly in their soundcloud if you are interested.

bandcamp / facebook

Looks like Escvro isn't going to be the last band to be posted here by me, because just today I received another album from a South American band which certainly deserves to be on here. Infame are a trio from Antofagasta, Chile, who are playing heavy doom/sludge metal. At least one of their members reads my blog for years and supports the anti-fascist attitude. Their lyrics are mostly about the "frustrations caused by this unfair society led by a few pigs", with some black humour as well. This album isn't available for download or digital purchase at this movement, but you can stream it off bandcamp.

Fuego Negro - s/t (2014)

FUEGO NEGRO "Fuego Negro"

Year: 2014
Genre: Black Metal, Blackened Punk
Country: Chile

Track List:
  1. Hacia La Nada Creadora
  2. Poeta Perro
  3. Fuego Negro
  4. Renacer
  5. El Kuero Vive
  6. Santa Maria Goretti
  7. Olvida El Maldito Nombre
  8. Las Sin Nombre
DOWNLOAD

Fuego Negro ("Black Flame", if my very limited knowledge of Spanish doesn't deceive me) are a band from Interior de la Quinta Region in Chile, and here's their debut album. They didn't provide me with much information, so I can say only that it's recorded DIY in collaboration with Diskordia Recs. in Valparaiso squat. It's an interesting release which definitely has that Latin American "old school" BM feel to it, but the recitation-type vocals in some tracks may seem a bit strange (but as far as I understand, they consider their lyrics as poetry, hence this vocal style).

Derrumbando Defensas - "En días de egoísmo y gritos de dolor" (2010)

DERRUMBANDO DEFENSAS "En días de egoísmo y gritos de dolor"

Year: 2010
Genre: Metallic Hardcore
Country: Chile

Track List:
  1. Sentido de Orgullo
  2. Un Paso Adelante
  3. Deslealtad
  4. Tu Vida se Desplomó
  5. Liberación
DOWNLOAD

Thanks to Panda for reminding me of this band, which may be the only all-female hardcore band in Chile. Unlike most Chilean hardcore bands, they're not from Santiago, but Temuco, and the while scene there seems to be interesting (albeit very small). The music on this demo is quite intense metallic hardcore, almost comparable to their compatriots La Miseria de tu Rostro; honestly I haven't expected it to be that good (especially for a first demo...)

La Miseria de tu Rostro - "Jauría" (2012)

LA MISERIA DE TU ROSTRO "Jauría"

Year: 2012
Genre: Negative Hardcore/Crust
Country: Chile

Track List:
  1. Jauría
  2. Bestiario
  3. Girando En El Vacio
  4. Cuervos
  5. Depredación
  6. Rechazar
  7. Ecos De Guerra
  8. XXIII V XI
  9. Laberinto Terrenal
  10. Oscuras Intenciones
DOWNLOAD

Not black metal, but excellent metallic hardcore from Santiago de Chile. Chilean hardcore scene is generally very good (judging by the bands like Entrefuego, Cenizas, Empatía, etc.), but LMdtR really stand out. + I personally perfer their "negative hardcore" over the regular hardcore that the majority of aforementioned Chilean bands are playing. Recommended!

In Cold Blood (CHL) - demo (2012)

IN COLD BLOOD "demo"

Year: 2012
Genre: Thrash Metal, MDM
Country: Chile

Track List:
  1. Black Block
  2. Payback
  3. Apocalypse Now
  4. Panopticon
DOWNLOAD

I found this band in the list of latest additions on EM, and thought they may be relevant to my blog, as their lyrical themes are: "Politics, Social Issues, Enviroment", and it looks like the lyrics on this demo (or at least the 1st track) are indeed political. The music is good for a first demo, though nothing innovative. According to their facebook page, they were influenced both by thrash metal (Slayer, Megadeth), and death metal - both melodic (In Flames, At The Gates) and brutal (Dying Fetus, Necrophagist). BTW, don't confuse them with a metallic hardcore band under the same name from Cleveland, OH, which released an excellent LP "Hell On Earth" on Holy Terror Records in 1998.

Asilo & Fracción George Best - split (2011)

ASILO / FRACCION GEORGE BEST "split"
Year: 2011
Genre: Sludge/Crust (Asilo), Hardcore/Screamo (FGB)
Country: Argentina / Chile
Track List:
Asilo
  1. Mecanismos de la Vida Moderna
  2. Oración
Fracción George Best
  1. III
  2. Caronte

I've received an e-mail from one of the members of Asilo not so long ago. Actually, I already knew about Asilo before, and even posted one track from their split w/ Tzara on my other blog, but it's always good to know that the band members themselves are reading my posts. They define their style as "a mix of black metal, doom, drone, sludge and many other kind of music", but for me it's mostly sludge/drone/doom with some blackened crust overtones. Not bad, but definitely not for fans of fast and aggressive stuff. As for Fracción George Best - they're from Chile, playing some kind of hardcore/screamo (not metallic at all). To be honest I didn't like their side of the split that much, but you might have a different opinion.
Release notes:
"bio: asilo is a sludge crust three-piece band from buenos aires, argentina. their members (nacho dp: drums / manuel: vox - bass - analogue devices / sebaxxxtian: bass / vox) played and still play in underground bands from the underground metal scene, like voightkampff, gran cuervo, milica, etc. we've released our first split with tzara (post hardcore, with manuel playing bass), including a live song from our very first show live in april 2011. Nowadays we are releasing this second split with fraccion george best, from chile, with two songs each band... this split cd will be releasing in chile and ecuador too.

In 2012, we are eager to play live and record our new songs and trying to be edited in usa or europe.

A new anarcho-death metal project from Chile, which I already mentioned in my blog, finally released a debut album! I received it directly from the band's vocalist, but right now I can't reply him, because I lost his e-mail address, and our forum went down along with the whole netforums.us... Anyway, I hope he'll read this post. And as for the forum, right now I'm thinking about moving it to a paid host.

Though the sound of Legado De Odio isn't very original (it's blackened death metal in the vein of In Flames and simular bands), it isn't bad at all for a first release, and the message in their lyrics is openly anarchist and anti-religious. As it was stated in the release notes, the album is completely free for distribution (fuck copyright!).

Lluvia Acida - "Stalingrado" (2005)

LLUVIA ACIDA "Stalingrado"

Year: 2005
Genre: Thrash Metal
Country: Chile
Label: self-prod.

Track List:
  1. Intro
  2. Stalingrado
  3. Violacion
  4. Fe Ciega
  5. Apatrida
  6. Amnesia
  7. Maquina De Matar
DOWNLOAD

Not long ago, someone recommended me that Red&Anarchist Skinheads blog, and this alubum was found there. Lluvia Acida (Acid Rain) is a Chilean band playing very eclectic and experimental music, which can't be labeled simply as "black metal" or anything like that. Though the black metal influence is definitely present on this album, I think it's more close to melodic death/techno-thrash metal. Of course it's just a demo, but the sound is surprisingly good. I don't understand their lyrics, but I guess they're of a political (left-wing) kind. It's the first left-wing metal band from Chile I've ever heard, and this demo is really worth listening to.
