:§:omnium - "Gelida Vampa" (2012)

:§:OMNIUM "Gelida Vampa"

Year: 2012
Genre: Dark Ambient
Country: Italy

Track List:

  1. Gĕlāre
  2. Algĭdusŏpŏr
  3. Ănĭmānĕ
  4. Lătĕbra
  5. Borartica
  6. Fortunale
  7. Sublimare

LISTEN

One more project that's related to Italian industrial/gothic/ambient scene. :§:omnium are a dark/drone ambient duo who use only analog sound sources, and merge the visual aspect of their art with pure sound. They call their music "cold ambient", and I think the last day of the winter is the right time to post their first album, which is apparently inspired by wintry coldness. Unfortunately, it isn't available as a download, but you can stream it from bandcamp. As for the visual aspect - here's their promo video:

The Wet - "The Largest White Guilt" (2011)

THE WET "The Largest White Guilt"

Year: 2011
Genre: Industrial Metal/Punk
Country: Italy

Track List:
  1. War of Ethics
  2. Walk Your Talk
  3. Let's Start a Riot
  4. We Are All Wet
  5. Wake the Bear
  6. The Largest White Guilt
  7. Shitlist
here

Another band whose ideological beliefs are somewhat similar to those of Yaotl Mictlan and the likes - but this time it's industrial metal. The Wet is a project of Max The Black Bear (also a member of relatively well-known female fronted industrial/gothic duo Helalyn Flowers), influenced equally by tribal music, hardcore punk, industrial and thrash metal: Slayer, Sepultura, The Prodigy, Ministry, Ratos de Porao, Soulfly, Skinny Puppy, Atari Teenage Riot and Throbbing Gristle. This is the free promotional MCD, sent to me by Max himself. For further info see the official site or facebook.

Mata Mata - demo (2010)

MATA MATA "demo"

Year: 2010
Genre: Raw Crust
Country: USA

Track List:
  1. Brutalized
  2. Fucking Order
  3. Ghettos & Jails
  4. Houseraid
  5. Hellbells
  6. Paralized
  7. Life-Denied
DOWNLOAD

I'm posting this demo only because Mata Mata (which means "Kill Kill", I presume) are connected to Black Twilight Circle, the revolutionary black metal collective based out of Los Angeles. Can't say I fully understand their ideology, so I won't post here other their releases right now - but as far as I know, almost all of them are huge fans of crust punk, and some of them consider themselves "mystical anarchists".

According to other sources, their ideology is more close to Native American nationalism (see this, for example)... but you know, "nationalism" is a very vague term. Yaotl Mictlan are also said to be pro-Native American nationalism and anarcho-friendly at the same time, but I don't see anything wrong with their ideology so far (and their music is excellent, by the way). If YM are nationalistic, then all folk metal bands (and folk music in general) are nationalistic by this logic...

Anyway, back on topic. This release isn't bad for a first demo, but nothing remarkable either - just very raw crust punk. Most of you will probably like it anyway, but don't except it to be strongly BM-influenced.

Wyrdforge - s/t demo (2012)

WYRDFORGE "demo"

Year: 2012
Genre: Old School Death/Thrash/Black Metal
Country: UK

Track List:
  1. Belief Possession
  2. Invisible Mastery
  3. Necromancy and Napalm Bombings
  4. Grave Thirst
  5. Leeching Spell
DOWNLOAD

Wyrdforge are a new duo from Brighton who are playing raw old school extreme metal. Their lyrics aren't political, but they totally adhere to the DIY ethic, and at least one of their members is definitely on our side ideologically. As I've said already, their sound is raw, but I think it isn't bad at all - such kind of sound fits perfectly in their style.

  2. Police Bastard
  3. Constant History
  4. Mi A Faszt Nézel?

  6. Egyenesen A Semmibe!

A split album featuring two excellent bands, one from Norway and another one from Hungary, both of which know about my blog. Need I say more? I didn't even knew about existence of this split until last week, even though it's almost 2 years old already. A great find, definitely recommended to anyone who love grindcore and metallic crust!

Deadly Mosh - "Blind Leads The Blind" (2010)

DEADLY MOSH "Blind Leads The Blind"

Year: 2010
Genre: Thrash Metal
Country: Serbia

Track List:
  1. 2000 Years Of Decay
  2. Deadly Night
  3. Judgment Day
  4. Hellsound
DOWNLOAD

Some more thrash metal - this time from Kragujevac, Serbia. According to Metal Archives, their main lyrical themes are "Social, Anti-Capitalism, Metal, Pain". They also did a split "Labeled to Confront" with a band from Macedonia called Warnament, which may be not an explicitly political band, but they have a side project called Street (anarchist crossover thrash). Unfortunately, I couldn't find their demo "In Protest" anywhere...

P.S. While I was writing this, I remembered Odmetnik, one of the most prominent users of our (now defunct) forum - an anarchist from Serbia who loves old school black and thrash metal. I guess it was him who recently demanded me to post more distinctly metal stuff, and not to concentrate too much on crust and dark hardcore. Well, the will be more 80s'-style metal in the future - including Sacrilege discography, and not only. Stay tuned!

Sibirskaya Ugroza - demo (2012)

СИБИРСКАЯ УГРОЗА "demo 2012"

Year: 2012
Genre: Crossover Thrash Metal
Country: Russia

Track List:
  1. Песня тамбовских повстанцев
  2. Вновь
  3. Кони версты рвут наметом
  4. В октябре
  5. Красная расправа
DOWNLOAD

First of all: this demo was deliberately released only as very low-bitrate mp3 package, so don't ask me where to find a HQ version - it simply doesn't exist. The music is quite good for a home-recorded demo of an one-man project, though. Some have labeled it as crust, but it isn't - it's just crossover thrash metal/punk, obviously similar to Curt & The Contras (however, the leader of the project himself has denied any influence from C&TC; according to him, his music was influenced by Ork Bastards, new Darkthrone, Slayer, early Kreator, Agressor (FR), and other old school thrash/death metal; also Skitsystem, Contra La Contra, various dark hardcore & crust). Reminds me also of 80's Colombian (and other South American) hardcore and thrash.

The name "Сибирская Угроза" means "Siberian Threat", and was chosen after reading an article about the threat of Siberian secessionism. However, the project has nothing to do neither with separatists of any sort, nor with Siberia (it's based out of some small town in Krasnodar region, south of Russia). The demo consists of 5 tracks, mostly cover versions of anarchist songs of 1918-1922 civil war (including one song w/ lyrics by Nestor Makhno).

  3. Nem vagy jobb
  4. Hálóban

No, it isn't BM, it's just extreme crust/d-beat/grindcore with mad shouting in Hungarian over it - but I'm sure my readers love such kind of (anti-)music too. Human Error have been playing for 15 years and toured 26 countries - and now I know for sure that they're reading my blog too! Their newest release may be a bit short (less than 12 minutes), but it sounds absolutely great, just like their previous LP "Life Sentence".

Kolaps Systému - "Militia" (2012)

KOLAPS SYSTEMU "Militia"

Year: 2012
Genre: Noise / Power Electronics
Country: Slovakia

DOWNLOAD

Another recent release from Kolaps Systému, this time an one-track EP inspired by the history of eco-terrorism. In terms of sound, it isn't much different from their previous releases - 12 minutes of politically charged harsh noise. They're similar to Frostwinter in terms of ideology, I think, but their sound is more aggressive.

Kolaps Systému - "Večná Treblinka" (2012)

KOLAPS SYSTEMU "Večná Treblinka"

  2. Betónová džungľa
  3. Mikročip miesto mozgu
  4. Spev posledného vtáka

...And since my latest posts were all about noise, I think the newest release from Slovakian political noise extremists Kolaps Systému would fit in well. Almost 40 minutes of harsh noise torture... maybe it's a bit monotonous, but there are tons of much more repetitive and monotonous noise albums.

When I started listening to this release, at first I was like "WTF?!", but then I realized that it's great! Despite its unconvicing beginning (first 3-4 minutes), it's an awesome harsh noise/BM EP. I know a lot of you like extreme noise and raw USBM, so you probably won't be disappointed by this one.

Looks like Brobdingnagian are on our side, as they sent the their newest EP for a review, but I decided to post this one instead. There are also some other Brobdingnagian and related projects' releases available for free download here.

Frostwinter - "Awake Before Awakening" (2011)

FROSTWINTER "Awake Before Awakening"

Track List:
  1. A Simple Solution
  2. Broken Things Without An Intention
  3. Nephelopsia (A Vacant Journey)

  5. Vivisektionskammer
  6. The Negation Of Will
  7. Flowers Of Doom (Quiet Earth)
  8. Into Nothingness

"Awake Before Awakening" is the newest release by Frostwinter up to date, officially available for free download. I didn't like it as much as "Hour of Decline" (it'd be much better without voice samples, I think), but I'd still recommend it to all fans of experimental/industrial music. AFAIK, Frostwinter has one more full-length album, called "Club Nihil", but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Next time I'll post some more dark ambient and industrial that's ideologically suitable for my blog - from Russia, Canada, and Belgium. Hope my readers won't have a problem with me posting industrial/ambient/noise/other kinds of anti-music instead of metal/punk...

Frostwinter - "The Hour Of Decline" (2010)

"Frostwinter is a Death Industrial/Dark Ambient one-man project from Germany, which was formed in the middle of the year 2006.
Musically inspired by (old school) Industrial, Post Industrial, Musique Concrète, Bruitism and similar genres, it moves thematically (within a nihilistic intention), amongst other things, about the deconstruction of the anthropocentric worldview by the occident, the exploitation/torture of (non-human) animals, metaphysical/cultural pessimism and a general reflection about degenerated manners of the human species"
(official biography)

In addition to this, Frostwinter apparently supports a lot of crust bands with similar ideology, so I think his music will fit well in my blog. However, keep in mind that it isn't metal or crust at all - it's pure dark ambient / industrial noise.

To be honest, I didn't like Gattaca's side of the split that much... I think their earlier stuff was more impressive. But Axidance's side is really good (except for 4th track, maybe). The progress is obvious: their first album, released in 2008, was just poorly recorded neocrust with very naive lyrics, and now we have a philosophical, conceptual release strongly influenced by metal of various sorts. As of today, they're probably the best band in the whole Old Roots New Shoots circle, and I hope to hear even better stuff from them in the future.

MORALITY CRISIS "North"

Year: 2012
Genre: Blackened Crust/Hardcore/Sludge
Country: USA

"Homegrown in Wisconsin, pushed in Minnesota. Hard-riffing shitrock from the heartland. Started in 2003, broke up in 2006. Resumed activity in 2011 and will not stop until the master plan - the political and cultural unification of Minnesconsin - is fully realized".

Well, I've never been to neither WI nor MN, so I wouldn't comment on their political plans... The music is definitely worth listening, though. According to them, their target are "fans of: sludge, black metal, grind, doom, hardcore, crust, and everything good about metal and punk music" - just like me ;) What else can I say, it's very good metal punk. The EP consists of 4 tracks, but the freely downloadable archive contains only two, named simply "Side A" and "Side B".

Livstid are an anarcho-crustcore band from Bergen whose debut album is currently being distributed by Fysisk Format label. It isn't really blackened crust (well, I can hear blastbeats there, but it's mostly of grindcore kind; so I'd rather compare Livstid to bands like Radioskugga), but it's still EXCELLENT stuff. Highly recommended for all fans of Scandinavian crust!

One more band with a long time supporter of my blog in the lineup - now from São Paulo, Brazil. He's politically active and has to work a lot (how I understand him...), so his project has recorded only two songs so far, and the quality of recording isn't that good (but OK for a first demo). Official biography:

"Douleur Atroce started in October, 2011, by me, "J. Wildlord" as a one-man band, in Guarujá, a city in state of São Paulo, Brazil. I handled all instruments, but was searching for an vocal here, and when I found one, he just got fired from a NSBM band. So, hopeless, I went to youtube to search videos of people doing vocal covers from Brazil, but none of them agreed to enter the project. So, I found an guy doing vocals, but he was from Berlin - Germany... Even knowing this, I asked him to do vocals in a Anarchist Black Metal project. He agreed, and, I can say that now we're more friends than bandmates.

Until now, I did everything (Melodies and Lyrics), but he can also compose lyrics and he's vital in my composition of melodies, because everything I do I ask his opinion before, because he's 50% of the project, though. Anyway, I'm almost sure that it will be only me and him til the end.

Well, we don't have any labels, and our music is for free. We also do song by song, seeing how difficult is to me to record things and such, with low money condition as well as the distance between me and vocalist.

We had released 2 songs til this moment. The lyrics of the first one is heavily influenced by my anarchist thoughts. The second one, in lyrics, is more influenced by Nihilism, tells the story of a nihilist person in the edge.

Musically, I'm influenced by Iskra, Mayhem, Sigh, and Ragnarok. He's influenced by Marduk, Belphegor, and Endstille.

We are just beginning, so, I hope you like this, just try to ignore the not so good quality and technique. We're trying to be better in each song!
We would like to have our music in your blog, because, well, I'm not sure if we are a RABM band, even I'm liking the idea, but I'm anarchist and support 100% the RABM scene!"

Track List:
  1. Catacomb ov Ghouls
  2. Permian Massive Extinction
  3. Rancoeur et Amertume

A newest 3-track demo from this French anarchist metal project which sounds like it's from 1990, not 2012. It's quite strange release which sounds much more like very raw old school death metal than BM, so I'd recommend it only to fans of early death metal scene. The members of Morgon are also involved in such projects as Disakrin (very raw BM) and Black Earth & Burning Sunn (noise/drone; hope I remembered the name right).

Social Death - "Carpe Noctem" (2012)

Another demo sent to me by a reader of my blog, now it's lo-fi DSBM from Romania. The quality of production may be far from perfect, but it isn't bad for a first demo (except for first two or three tracks, which I didn't really like).
