After looking at the band name and the track list, I initially thought that it'd turn out to be a gothic/doom metal release, but I was wrong. It's atmospheric black metal - and it sounds quite impressive, I must say. According to one of their members, they're a 3-piece band from Black Hills, SD, formed in 2007. Their exposure has been very limited so far, as they live in the middle of the forest, hundreds of miles from any major cities. However, they definitely deserve to be known more - at least this album sounds just amazing (especially for a DIY recording). Click here for a better and more detailed review.

"Woman is the Earth consists of 3 members, brothers Jon and Andy Martin, and Jarrod Hattervig. The three of us live in the Black Hills of South Dakota and have been playing music together since the summer of 2007. We met through our continuing activity in local music in the Black Hills and developed a strong DIY ethic throughout. Our mutual interests in musical movements such as the recent flux of American Black Metal in the West, ancestral folk music and an appreciation of highly textured, atmospheric music led to the formation of Woman is the Earth. The three of us also share similar ethics in regard to spirituality and nature, creating a solid framework for the content of our music and ethos as a group" (from their official site)

P.S. If you still have doubts whether to download it or not, I suggest you to check out the title song of this album:
