Mur, was created by Cameron Sather in Minnesota in 2013. The goal of this project, as he says, was to create a dichotomy between the airy, open heaviness of Avant-drone experimentalist, despondent folk, and the austere whirlwinds of atmospheric black metal.
This new album called Heartworn is a concept album based on the ancient ecological rhythms of North American animal migration and related themes. Recorded in the winter of 2015/2016 in an off-grid location in pastoral Minnesota powered with solar electricity and heated only with a wood stove. Mass waterfowl exoduses, desperate fish pawns, and the oldest, earthly symbols of snake life-cycles are among the focus of this work.
