Hreinn - s/t (2015)

HREINN "Hreinn"

Year: 2015
Genre: Blackened Doom Metal
Country: USA

Track List:

  1. Unnamed
  2. Older Than Old
  3. Plague Of Witches Seeps Through
  4. Searching For An Exit
DOWNLOAD

"Anti-racist, anti-fascist doom band from Portland, Oregon, USA", as per the info from An Out Recordings. The cassette isn't officialy out yet, but nevertheless it's available for download as one long track.

An Out Recordings is a label started 8 or 9 years ago in Australia (if I'm not mistaken) by Anna, nowadays a member of Hreinn. All the bands on An Out Recordings were extensively screened for their politics and general vibe. According to Anna's words, "when I started this there were zero anarchist black metal labels, especially in Australia, and there were absolutely zero non-white ladies doing it". During its existence, An Out Recordings managed to gather an impressive collection of bands - anarchist black metal, doom/drone, noise, etc. Of course I'm going to check out all of them sooner or later, but not right now. I have a lot of demos to review beside that, but I think I'd leave them to other editors of this blog. Either way, stay tuned!

mar - "Demo" (2014)

MAR - "Demo"

Year: 2014
Genre: Post-Metal
Country: UK

Track List
  1. Drown - 10:28
Bandcamp

An interesting demo I received from someone recently, Mar is a post-metal band in the most general sense. There's lots of influences here ranging from hardcore to black metal to doom and some ambient. They are currently in the midst of working on an album to be released later this year and were featured on the most recent Crushing Intolerance release with this song. Mar is a band made up of people from strong left-wing backgrounds and thus has a focus on ridding the scene of right-wing poison.

RuptürA - "Exílio" (2015)

RUPTURA "Exílio"

Year: 2015
Genre: Blackened Punk
Country: Brazil

Track List:
  1. Intro
  2. A Sociedade Industrial e seu Futuro
  3. Exílio
  4. Soledade
  5. O Amanhecer do Nada / Conspiração das Células de Fogo
  6. Futuro Primitívo
bandcamp

Ruptür(A) is a new anarcho-primitivist one-man project from Brazil. The person behind the project discovered anarchist black metal as early as in 2006, and since then he was influenced by many bands such as Black Trinity, The Dead Musician, Panopticon, WITTR, Mania, Iskra, Martyrdod et al. He was playing bass guitar in a band called Suicide Grindcore Collective, but left it after they recorded their first demo. The "Exílio" demo was recorded solo (instrument by instrument) during 2014 and completed in early 2015. Speaking of the sound - it's fine for a demo, but I'm not sure if it really counts as black metal... Rather just  blackened punk/crust.

Siberian Hell Sounds - "⍲⍕⍎⍱" (2015)

SIBERIAN HELL SOUNDS "⍲⍕⍎⍱"

Year: 2015
Genre: Grindcore, Blackened Hardcore
Country: Australia

Track List:

A new short EP with an unreadable name from Siberian Hell Sounds, a 3-piece blackened hardcore band from Brisbane which appears on my blog for at least 3rd time. Need I say more? Here's some live footage from them:

...and a short film:

Wrapped In Pale - demo (2015)

WRAPPED IN PALE "demo"

Year: 2015
Genre: Black Metal
Country: USA

Track List:
  1. Amber Gold
  2. Sepulcher Overshadowed
  3. Seven
bandcamp

Wrapped In Pale are a black metal trio from Orlando, FL. They're playing more or less standard BM with apolitical lyrics, but they definitely aren't happy with the NS context which the black metal scene is often associated with. That's the reason why I'm posting their first demo (released on 25th of February this year), and if you're going to give it a listen, it definitely will be appreciated by the band.

Solitary Depression - "Void Stipulation" (2015)

SOLITARY DEPRESSION "Void Stipulation"

Year: 2015
Genre: Dark Ambient, DSBM
Country: Sri Lanka

Track List:
  1. Incarnation
  2. As I exhale into life after death
  3. Life's despair
  4. Dreaming beyond
DOWNLOAD

The latest work up to date from one of my readers in Sri Lanka, one of whose earlier EPs I've already posted here before. For the most part, it's still dark ambient / dungeon synth, but there are considerably more elements of depressive/suicidal BM on this EP than on SD's earlier works.

warona - EP 2014/2015 (2015)

WARONA "EP 2014/2015"

Year: 2015
Genre: Neocrust, Post-(Black) Metal
Country: Russia

Track List:
  1. прелюдия. страдания очищают
  2. не позволь крови засохнуть
  3. сам себе решётка
  4. мор. послесловие.
bandcamp

Some more neocrust / dark hardcore with atmospheric BM overtones, this time from Saransk, Mordovia. Pretty interesting atmospheric sound with piano. The list of influences includes Dottie Danger, Minuala, Bagna and Axidance, so if you like these bands (all of which but one were posted on my blog before) you probably won't be disappointed by this one too. They made everything DIY and don't play on any tours etc., so if any label is going to help them, that'll be appreciated a lot.

Caim - "Celebrações Insurgentes" (2013)

CAIM "Celebrações Insurgentes"

Year: 2013
Genre: Neocrust
Country: Brazil

Track List:
  1. Celebração do (Contra) Tempo
  2. Celebração da Fome
  3. Celebração da Decolagem
  4. Celebração da Desmitificação da Coisa
  5. Celebração da Desordem e Regresso (pt. 1)
bandcamp

Like in case with Soror, this band was introduced to me by Share This Breath Recs., a Brasilia-based record label that tries to promote the local anarcho-friendly bands. I can't say this release is that metal-oriented (probably not any more than any average modern neocrust release), but it's still quite good and recommended to check out.

Soror - s/t (2014)

SOROR "Soror"

  2. Viver seu caminho irá com frequência exigir que você confie nas energias que o constroem
  3. IV

  5. Não apenas a terra
bandcamp

As always on 8th of March, I'm posting an album by a female-fronted band. Soror are a 3-piece minimalist doom metal band from Brasilia (capital of Brazil) that comes from the anarcho-punk scene, despite the more metal-oriented sound:
