The Depressick was founded in winter of 2012-2013 by Old Skull and Detestas with the aim to express inner struggles, deep selfhate and melancolic feelings powered by oppressive, hopeless and misable landscapes from the daily life in Mexico City. Carcinoma is their new album were they continue exploring the miserable life in a big city as México where people seem to be so selfish, so unconcerned about others and their environment.

The artwork in this one (as in the last EP) was made by me.

Some of the tracks were written to the comrades that are right now hidden and escaping
as a result of state oppression, also it's an album dedicated to all the comrades resisting... we can have better times.

Listen also to their first release here.

Genre: Atmospheric, Depressive Black Metal
Country: México

Track List:
  1. Sub Urban...
  2. Nowhere
  3. Inferiority Complex
  4. Misdeeds
bandcamp / facebook

Sorrow, hate, urban life, melancholy... all of this involves the second demo of this Mexican band. (You can also listen and download for free their first demo here).
The band was formed on 2013 in Mexico city, having as an inspiration bands as Lifelover. According to them there are a lot of things that inspires the band, first of all the place they come from and the asphyxiating life in a city like that, also alcohol and the effects it causes on feelings, inner struggles... basically it's all about the personal members experiences living in an oppressive city and how they pass through the concrete jungle.

Right now the band is working on new material that will come out this year.

  4.  Sólo una palabra
  5.  Ausencia
  6.  Detrás de la misma reja
My first post on this blog will be about this energic band from México. Even though this is not Black Metal, many of you will be interested. The lyrics are about the human race being a failure, this is also where their name (“Failed Species”) comes from.

Let’s think for a minute: What are we in the middle of misery? the progress is just an illusion and we are just living deads walking in a gray big city. Someone who points out these themes definitely worth the time of listening, you will not be disappointed.

Their lyrics are mostly about the decadence of the human being and civilization. Their guitarist/vocalist has asked me to post it ASAP, but the MEGA link provided by him doesn't work for me. However, you can try your luck, or simply listen to the whole album on their bandcamp page.

"The simply fact to do our own noise is democratic anarchy, to do that we want and as we like us,our free will, most of mexican bands are playing the same covers of the same bands that every knows only to be accepted by the crowd. First two tracks as a tribute and three last as a joke. we promote the term DO IT YOURSELF! We are two: mkrieg on guitar and programming and axel playing bass and voices, the drums are programmed on a computer it shows that there is no limits to create, so it explains the album title. The name of the band are about how humanity like the pain, we dont earn any money recording and playing this...

Ripping riffs from some D-Beat bands and a track of the amazing shit of GG Allin covered in five simple words "suck suck suck my dick"... Included a final instrumental jam in the vein of the early Bathory the return...

All drums are programmed, bass voice and guitars are recorded live a la Godflesh style.
There aren't lyrics, only are words spoken spontaneously..."

Disterror - "Live Create Destroy" (2013)

DISTERROR "Live Create Destroy"

Year:  2013
Genre:  Crust
Country:  Mexico

Track List:
  1. Condemned to Survive
  2. Insurrection
As I said in the prior post, I don't know too much about this band.  They say their later stuff is more in opposition to social violence and repression.  This is a better release, though I wish it was more than two songs.  The production quality is better and the band is more aggressive.  They have more metal elements musically as well.

Disterror - "Upcoming Warfare (Demo)" (2010)

DISTERROR "Upcoming Warfare (Demo)"

Genre:  Crust
Country:  Mexico

Track List:
  1. Fearless
  2. Upcoming Warfare
  3. Human Garbage
  4. Pray for Death
  5. D Beat Roll
I don't know too much about this band.  In their email, they said their earlier stuff (this release) is antiwar.  They are from Cancun, Mexico.  The release sounds like a demo.  It is worth a listen if you like d-beat, crust, and similar music.

Arsonist - demo (2012)

ARSONIST "demo"

Year: 2012
Genre: Thrash Metal / Crust'n'Roll
Country: Mexico

Track List:
  1. Setting Fire
  2. Mentally Rejected
  3. Damage Structure
  4. Muerto En Las Vias
  5. Ambitions Of Death
  6. False Unity
DOWNLOAD

Mexico City-based crust/thrash metal band with misanthropic lyrics, formed in August 2012 and released their first 6-track demo by November'12. The band themselves claim their style to be "blackened punk/metal", but I think it's rather crust/thrash metal, somewhat similar to Motörized (another Mexican band whose debut album I posted here not so long ago).

Motörized - "El Motor" (2012)

MOTORIZED "El Motor"

Year: 2012
Genre: D-Beat, Crust'n'Roll
Country: Mexico

Track List:
  1. Patria o Muerte
  2. América Respira
  3. Pactando Carreras
  4. Bienvenido a mi Miseria
  5. Los Coleguitas
  6. Señales en el Camino
  7. Asalto al City Bank
  8. Bastardos del D-Beat
  9. Victimas de Guerra
  10.  Cuarto de Milla

Motörized are a band from Ciudad Obregon (Sonora, Mexico), active since 2009. Musically and aesthetically they can be categorized as "motorcharged crust/d-beat" along with such bands as Children of Technology, Bhopal, and Hellcrawler. The archive includes all the album covers and lyrics (which are all in Spanish, and as far as I can understand, generally resemble the lyrics of other "biker punk" bands which I mentioned above).

Abyssal - "Landscapes" (2010)

ABYSSAL "Landscapes"

Year: 2010
Genre: Crust/Doom/Sludge
Country: Mexico

bandcamp

Detesta Records have pointed me to this release from Tijuana-based band Abyssal(don't confuse them with the UK-based death metal band under the same name!), consisting of only one long track. Personally I didn't really understand this album, but if you're a fan of minimalistic doom/sludge, and you liked Abyssal's side of this 4-way split, you might enjoy this one too.

DOWNLOAD

Not so much time has passed after Axidance/Gattaca split was released, and now they made another split - now with 3 other crust bands from all around the world. All the Axidance tracks on this split are new versions of their old songs (except for track #2), recorded with different lineup:
  • Dionis (vocal, guitar)
  • Sergiy (guitar)
  • Ilya (bass)
  • Sergiy (drums, synths)
  • Ksenia (synths)
Rivers Run Dry are a neocrust band from Budapest with Dr.Slayer on bass, who also plays in Human Error. As for me, I like Human Error better, but nevertheless, it's good to see another crust band from a country which has loads of nationalist rock bands, but neither a big crust scene, nor anything like Cascadian BM scene.

Doomsday are a raw old-school crust band from Colombia whose lyrics are mostly about Colombian civil war (which isn't surprising at all, though - it's the main lyrical theme in both Colombian crust and thrash metal scenes; and while living in the country with an ongoing guerrilla conflict, I understand them quite well). To be honest, they're my least favourite on the whole split, but if you're into stuff like Hatross, you may like Doomsday as well.

As for Abyssal, I can say their music is relatively far from post-metal or crust, but I definitely like the acoustic parts of their track. BTW, there's one more RABM-sympathising band called Abyssal - atmospheric death metal from the UK - whose first album I'll post a little later.

Overall, a quite decent split, and Axidance's side is clearly the best. The physical release: 500 books with CD; 6 color pages with lyrics and photos; released as a benefit for the Anarchist Black Cross. Distributed by: They Live rec. | Иакх rec. | Black Cardinal rec. | Resist rec. | My Riot Inward rec. | Wasted Sky's rec.

Words - s/t (2012)

WORDS "Words EP"

Year: 2012
Genre: Metallic Crust/Sludge
Country: Mexico

Track List:
  1. Red Fascism
  2. Cannibal Feast
  3. When Civilization is No Longer Enough
  4. Burn Brightly
  5. Ligeramente Enamorado del Diablo
  6. Watching Me Breath
  7. The Dust
bandcamp

Boring band name, but good music. Words were formed in 2010 and have played with many bands since then, including Antimaster and Inservibles (local Mexican bands), and also opened for Dave Phillips (ex Fear of God), Eskatologia (Sweden) and La URSS (Spain). Here's their debut release - 7 song EP which they recorded last year and released on cassette as well as in digital form in January 2012. They define their style as "crust/sludge/stenchcore/whatever" (all of which is good in my book).

Upd. 12th April: Initially, I was about to post this EP right after I received it (end of March), but then I decided to ask the band about the meaning of the lyrics for the song "Red Fascism", which I didn't fully understood. According to them, it's a song about totalitarianism in the animal kingdom - specifically about ants and their instinctual discipline.

Bits-and-Herz - "Julieta I" (from "Tranzmetal" LP)

Bits-and-Herz is an one-man electro-industrial project from Mexico, started in 2006 by Angel "WasV" Fajardo (who I know reads my blog). The main lyrical theme of Bits-and-Herz are negative emotions and social conditions (alcoholism, rape, drugs, depression, frustration and hatred). He has released 3 albums so far. Unfortunately, the quality of production is far from perfect, and I don't really like the vocals (according to WasV, he doesn't use any voice effects, because he wants to differ from all these commercial dark electro bands that all have distorted vocals; but I personally think that his vocals would fit the music much better if distorted), but some of his tracks sound very promising:
