Voland are an extreme symphonic metal duo from Bergamo, Italy. Lyrically, Voland sing of various facts from Russian history, theatrically interpreting tragically epic real events.

Their first demo was reviewed on our blog, check it out here.
The EP "Voland 2" was published this year in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Russian Revolution of October 1917, with songs directly referencing the work of poets, writers and musicians active in that time.

Their philosophy regarding music is simple: they do art for its sake and for theirselves, They don't wish to monetize on it and therefore Voland's music is freely downloadable from their channels and available in digital format only. All they ask in return is their music to be listened to and spread around.

A bit off-topic on here, but this is good music, and its creator apparently reads this blog. I don't think it counts as black metal, but the definitely is significant influence of atmospheric BM, and I'd recommend it mostly to those of my readers who are into post-black metal / blackgaze. The album is almost completely instrumental, although there are some voice samples. The general mood of the album is pretty accurately reflected by the cover artwork, I think.

Another old school death metal band whose members read and appreciate my blog, this time it's from Italy. They describe their style as "raw old school death metal with some thrash and hardcore influences", which I think is pretty accurate. This particular demo doesn't have political lyrics, but their debut 2008 demo did. They're also are good friends with Ü and Deiezione HC (local far-left wing hardcore band), and take part in anarcho/benefit gigs in social centers.

An excellent find, thanks to our Anarchist Black Metal VK group: a folk/black metal band who plays traditional folk songs in Occitan language (the only such band I know of) and has connections to the DIY punk/hardcore scene in Turin. Hopefully it'd be OK to post this EP here without the band's permission because "Lou Quinse support free download, copyleft and free information".

"Lou Quinse, It literally means “The Fifteen” in the Francoprovençal dialect, was born in 2006. The meaning of the name does not stop there. The Fifteen is also the number of the Devil in the tarot cards and with this name the Devil is known and called in the French-provençal and Occitan valleys. “Devilish” heavy metal meets a tradition which has never suffered dogma and impositions."

"In 2008 Lou Quinse record their first ep. 5 tracks of Occitan Folk Metal which mixed up alps tradition with extreme music, become a masterpiece with songs like "Calant de Villafranca"and "Para lo lop". A band from Italy which was featured on "Crushing Intolerance (vol.2)". One of the editors of The Dark Skies Above Us - who is, obviously, a supporter of my blog and RABM in general - plays there. Their music can best be defined as a kind of blackened punk/hardcore/screamo, I think. While screamo in general isn't my thing, this release might be of interest for a lot of my readers.

Ierru ("Winter") are a band from Sardinia, and here's their 2014 full-length titled "Contos de Foghile" ("Fireside Tales"). It's black metal, nothing particularly unusual in terms of sound, but what's interesting about this album is that all the lyrics are in Sardinian language. They mostly are about Sardinian culture (history, legends, myths...), and aren't political, but the band itself is against NSBM, and they think they'll fit well in my blog.

This Italian political metal project is back with a new EP, which continues the line LoC took on the earlier releases - intense, "mechanical" BM sound, and relatively clean vocals. It sounds a bit monotonous at times, but "Resistenza" isn't a long release, so it's not a big problem. Ideologically, it probably will appear more to those who are on the "red" side of RABM (that's possibly why it was released on 7th of November). Like all the previous releases from LoC, "Resistenza" is released by an independent label SUN Prods., and it's officially available for free download/distribution.

P.S. Well, I think I've posted more than enough for today. I still have more than 20 albums waiting for a review, but a lot of them either have little to do with RABM, or it isn't really "my" thing in terms of music. First, I want to apologize for not posting here in awhile.  My workload at my job has gotten quite a bit bigger and I am now producing a weekly internet radio show (rageandfrustration.blogspot.com) playing some of the same music featured here.  I received this album from the band last September, so I am definitely far behind on getting some of these up.  AngoracoiD is a self-described "Satanic blackened mincecore, anti-fascist, anarchist" band from Italy.  The album is what I would consider pretty solid deathgrind, but doesn't break any new musical boundaries.  Well worth the download if, like me, you like that kind of music.

The 3rd release from Larva ov Cum, with all the hallmarks of LoC - mainly, clean vocals and political/satirical lyrics. As far as I can understand, the lyrics are mostly a satire of the current political situation in Italy, and the album title is an apparent homage to the Irish Republicanism. Personally I was never a big fan of the IRA; moreover, I think the prayer of IRA (a predominantly Catholic organization) isn't the best choice for an intro of a black metal album. (as it turned out, "ira" is just Italian for "anger", so I probably wasn't right in my guess. Well, nevermind) However, if you liked two previous LoC albums, I think you'll like this one as well.

CCC CNC NCN were an avant-garde, anarchist, anti-NWO band from Torino (Italy), formed in 1985 by several anonymous members (both musicians and visual artists) after the dissolution of a hardcore/punk band Kollettivo. As for me, I don't really understand this kind of proto-industrial music, but fans of noise & various avant-garde stuff could find this interesting. Epic raw black metal from one of my long-term supporters. The band features members of Giuda, Undead Creep, Post Fata Resurgo, Oracle (r.i.p.), Isolamento, Nonperdono (r.i.p.) among others. Lamantide are a left-leaning blackened hardcore band from Cremona (Italy), formed in 2009. I think they're a very good representative of Italian blackened hardcore/crust scene, which seems to be growing fast. Unfortunately I have this album only in 128kbps bitrate, but you can get its shorter version in 320 kbps bitrate off bandcamp, if you wish. And as a final word - their cover of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" "(O Fortuna)" is great:

New free EP from this Italian self-defined "Anti-Capitalistic Anarcho-Blackmetal (A.C.A.B.)" project, titled "Rabbia" ("Rage"). At first I thought I'm about to listen to a noise/industrial album after hearing the intro track, but the subsequent tracks turned out to be quite good BM (with rather unusual vocals, though). Overall, if you've heard LoC's first demo, then you know what to expect. Release notes (in broken English, but I left the original grammar and spelling intact):
