Moving to Reddit

Since almost all the stuff on here is now being reposted from /r/RABM/ (except for the last few entries), and I seem to be the only active contributor by now, I've decided to move there. This blog will remain as an archive and won't be deleted, but new music submissions should be made to /r/RABM/ (requires a Reddit account, but it can be created in few minutes if you don't have one).

/r/RABM/ is a big and fairly active community, and I think of it as a worthy successor to this blog. Note also that the /r/RABM/ moderators aren't contributors on here.

"This EP is dedicated to the Vikings, and more specifically, the Viking voyages, the struggle with the elements and courage. Do not be afraid to go towards your destiny"

While it isn't openly political, the person behind Primogenitis is a staunch anarchist and anti-fascist.

Track List:
  1. No Home
  2. Until The Plains
  3. Deliverer Awake
  4. Spurn From Within
  5. Fall of Civilization
  6. Reunion

"... I am Black and mixed race. It’s hard to think of fascism as a benign thing for me, whether or not the attitudes are sincere or just aesthetic based. For those reasons I’ve often been removed from the metal scenes except on the internet, which is where people are the worst about that sort of thing. I’ve probably been to less than 10 black metal shows in 20 years o listening to the music for that reason, so I’ve encountered only minimal amounts of it in person.

... I have always felt a connection to old folk traditions, although I never had a ton of personal connection through them in my upbringing – so many of them I have admired from a distance. But it is also so easy for these things to get wrapped up in nationalism that has also kept me a bit removed from them. There are many Black American folk magic and pagan traditions that I don’t have as much connection to.

I’m especially a fan of Scandinavian and similarly influenced projects like most of what Einar Selvik is connected to, Ulver’s Kveldssanger and the like. But I’ve also looked to bands like Deveykus and Zeal and Ardor who have tried to incorporate Hasidic music and Black spirituals respectively into a metal sound, insisting on making space for themselves and their sounds in the larger umbrella of the scene"

"Uzi Suicide is a fast, thrashy powerviolence outfit from Santa Cruz, California. Their songs reflect the band's main interests: Satan, Veganism, shoplifting, graffiti and vegan thrash punx.

Uzi Suicide is now, sadly, defunct, and no longer plays shows.

Some questions people have about Uzi Suicide: Do they mosh? Yes. Do they pray? No. Do they kill? Always! Do they go to church? Fuck no. Do they fuck? Fuck yes!"

Neckbeard Deathcamp are a joke black metal band from Bordeaux, France - the place where Varg Vikernes lives now, which is a part of the joke. In all seriousness, they are from Illinois / North Carolina / Michigan. They consider their kind of black metal to be "fedora crushing militant black metal." They are satirical towards the modern far-right movement. The band consists of Kriegmeister Hatestorm (vocals, piano, noise and production), Superkommando Uberweinersnitchel (guitar and bass) and Hailz Komradez (drums). They released one EP called White Nationalism is for Basement Dwelling Losers on Bandcamp. It went viral rapidly after its release.

"This album has been a passion project of mine since I first started Dead Work back in 2012. In high school my teacher would hand out excerpts from A Peoples History by Howard Zinn to go along with our textbook readings. Viewing history from the viewpoint of the oppressed was both heartbreaking and infuriating, but also eye opening. Of all the injustices covered in that book, the one that struck hardest was the cold and calculated extermination of Indigenous populations. My father being Puerto Rican, I first started reading about the indigenous populations of the Caribbean that he would tell me about as I was growing up. It was astonishing that an entire culture could be blinked out of existence in a matter of 30 years. But the more I read, the more I realized that the Taino weren't alone. From the tip of Nunavut, Canada, down to Chile and Argentina's Tiera del Fuego, all experienced the same. And if not for my high school history teacher, who knows when I would have learned about it. American school painted a picture of a few small instances of injustice, but of an overall understanding between two people that one needed more space, and the other was obliging enough to quietly step out of the way.

I wasn't entirely sure how to even cover such a massive topic musically, and so I put the idea aside for several years and focused on other projects. Every time I sat down to start a new album, or write a new song, I always came back to the same topic, but decided it wasn't the time. Then, a few years ago, I made a move to a new state, and Dead Work effectively broke up, since I was losing my bandmates. In a new location, with no friends, I finally felt like I had a fresh musical canvas to make something that was more aligned with my recent musical tastes. So slowly but surely, I started crafting new songs that felt weighted enough to deal with the topic I wanted to write about. I decided each song would describe a different facet of colonization, that when combined, led to the destruction of thousands of cultures and millions of people between North and South America. There is no way to cover each of their stories and do them justice. Some have flourished in recent decades, some have been lost to time forever. Some can trace their heritage back 500 years or more, some will never know what culture they can claim as their own. I wrestled with each of these song topics, and finally narrowed it down to the 6 most destructive (in my opinion) aspects of the colonization of the Americas and the Caribbean. Disease, Religion, Removal from and Destruction of environment, Resistance and Language. These 6 topics, coupled with the opening track, that tells the creation story of the Taino people, who were the first to come in contact with Christopher Columbus, are what I now present to you as "The White Plague". Each track will have it's own description, so I would like to just finish this up by saying thank you for taking the time to listen. I know this album is filled with technical mistakes. I got in over my head when it came to playing the songs I wrote. But I would appreciate it if you look past the goofs and see the picture I tried to paint. I hope people see that I tried to tackle this subject with reverence for the lives lost, and those who continue to live under the weight of their ancestors. There is no righting so many wrongs, but acknowledgement is the first in a long line of steps to mend such old wounds. Thanks again.

I would also like to extend my warmest thanks and gratitude to Hagiophobic designs for working with me to create the sickest album artwork I've ever had!"

Lord Effluvia - "The March of Suffering" (2018)

Year: 2018
Genre: Harsh Noise / Power Electronics
Country: USA

  1. Nationalism is Stockholm Syndrome

  3. A Drowning in Vyatskoye, 1948
  4. The Ill Son
  5. Paradise in Pyongyang

  7. Monogrammatic
  8. The Horrors Are Countless
  9. The Ill Son (Demo Version) (Bonus Track)

Lord Effluvia is an one-man dark ambient / harsh noise project from Canton, Ohio.

Lyrical themes include various crimes committed against humanity, including the innumerable horrors caused by global capitalism, imperialism, jingoistic nationalism, etc. Anarcho Communist philosophy, Dreams, Hopelessness, Depression, and Self Hatred.

"The March of Suffering" is a historical piece set in the 90s North Korean famine, otherwise known as The March of Suffering or The Arduous March, whose body count is estimated to be as high as 3,500,000 deaths out of a total population of 22 million people, killing approximately 6% of the population. Causes include US/Western economic blockades, mismanagement from the bureaucratic ruling class which includes the state sanctioned private owners of the means of production, causing the then Public Distribution System to collapse that provided food to everyone, all coinciding during a terrible period of floods and droughts on the countries minimal amounts of arable soil, on top of the DPRK's Military First policy which caused the military to take most foreign aide for themselves, citizens rarely seeing it in illegal black markets.

Portions of the album also touch on the DPRK's vast prison camp system, many of which accounts coincided with the famine in the outside world.

An account of the failures and horrors of state capitalism and the dictatorship "of the proletariat", and other such faux socialist reactionary totalitarian states, and by extension the failures of rigid class based hierarchy.
